Route Information, History, Photo and Termini Gallery

A rather scenic route, GA 108 extends through northwestern Cherokee County into Southern Pickens County between the Sutallee and Tate communities, respectively. Along the route, GA 108 passes through the small college town of Waleska and the campus of Reinhardt College.

GA 108 overlaps with GA 53 along its eastern end east of GA 515, an arrangement created on October 17, 2005 that may ultimately result in GA 108 being truncated to end at GA 515 in the future. The relocation of GA 53 to part of GA 108 came as a result of GA 53 being relocated along existing routes to by-pass downtown Jasper and to relieve truck traffic. The former GA 53, which largely follows Old GA 5, is now GA 53 Business.

Note this was originally the end for GA 143 until 1977 and GA 108 Connector until the mid-1980's. Also note that these photos were taken prior to the commissioning of GA 53 Business and the relocation of GA 53.
Historic Northern Terminus: GA 52 in the Cartecay community southeast of Ellijay
Up until 1980, this served as the northern extent of GA 108. The first photo is looking eastbound on GA 52 with Old GA 108 to the right. This street name sign originally read "108 Burnt Mountain Road". The second photo is looking southbound. A heavily deteriorated curve sign was where the speed limit sign is until recently.
