Route Information, History and Termini Gallery

Located in the Georgia suburbs of Chattanooga, GA 146 extends from U.S. 41/76 northwest of Ringgold west to U.S. 27 between Fort Oglethorpe and Rossville, serving as a less congested two-lane alternative to Battlefield Parkway (GA 2). A short highway, the road includes an interchange with I-75 along its 5.2 mile length. GA 146 is located entirely in Catoosa County and is locally known as Cloud Springs Road.

History

GA 146 was originally commissioned in 1938. Around 1950, the highway was fully paved. Except for a widening of the bridge over Chickamauga Creek in the 1980's, no changes have occured along the highway since the paving of the route. However, a future widening project is planned that will expand the road to four lanes to accomodate congestion on the road.
