Route Information, History, Photo and Termini Gallery

Stretching across Gordon and Floyd Counties, 35-mile long GA 156 cuts across the length of Coosa Valley through Calhoun. A highway that has seen significant change over the years, the route has basically been static for the past two decades. Though not a route of major importance, the route ends at two major U.S. highways and intersects a third, U.S. 41. The highway also has an interchange with I-75.

Lots of recreational opportunities may be found near the route. New Echota Historic Site is an enjoyable stop for history buffs. Nearby outlets in Calhoun provide shopping opportunities and country music fans can catch a concert at the "Concerts in the Country" music park located along the highway itself. In the Armuchee Ridges section of the highway, two campgrounds are found near the route including Hidden Creek and the popular Pocket Campground. Also, where the route passes through the Armuchee Ridges, the Ridge and Valley Scenic Byway joins the highway.
