Route Information, History and Termini Gallery
GA 302 is located in Decatur County and connects Bainbridge to Quincy, FL via GA 97 and FL 267. This 4.6 mile long highway is also locally known as Cool Springs Road. GA 302 also has one banner route, one mile long GA 302 Spur, which connects GA 302 to the Faceville community. Faceville Road also extends east of GA 302 Spur to connect to U.S. 27 Business in the town of Attapulgus as a county road.

History
In the early 1950's, no truly direct route joined Bainbridge and Quincy, FL. On the Florida side, FL 267 had first appeared in 1953 (prior to the secondary roads act of 1955), but state maintenance ended at the Georgia border until traffic reached GA 97. GA 302 did not become a state route, however, until four years later in 1957. Apparently, Georgia did not have an adequate route on their side, and the road that later became GA 302 appeared on the map a year prior to becoming a state route as a local road. When commissioned, GA 302 was fully paved suggesting the Highway Department did not want to take on this road as an unpaved section of an otherwise paved highway. GA 302 Spur was added the following year, also paved upon commissioning.
