Route Information, History and Termini Gallery
A local farm route previously, GA 326 first came into existance in 1961. This highway extends northeast from downtown Commerce to GA 106 south of Carnesville, making a leisurely alternative between the two cities. Overall, GA 326 is a very sparsely traveled highway extending 17.3 miles overall extending through three counties: Jackson, Banks and Franklin.

History
The origin of GA 326 dates back to 1961 in a year when at least 20 newly designated state routes were added along county roads. When GA 326 was added, the route consisted of two disjointed routes fused together along an overlap with then GA 164, which had been extended a few years previous. GA 326 no longer has any overlapped sections since GA 164 was truncated west of the Bold Springs Road section, though the route does make a clearly defined dogleg along Bold Springs Road for 0.4 miles. Overall, GA 326 has not changed much at all since the time it was first commissioned with exception of where the U.S. 441 by-pass was built across it in the early 1990's.
