Route Information, History and Termini Gallery
Southeast of Macon, GA 358 serves as a cutoff between U.S. 80 and GA 96, traversed by an interchange with I-16. In this, GA 358 serves an important function by creating a more direct route between the two highways. Located in Twiggs County, 6-mile long GA 358 is locally known as Homer Chance Highway, serving as a south by-pass of Jeffersonville and cutting off three miles from I-16 west to GA 96 west.

History
GA 358 first appeared in 1963 or 1964 when I-16 was first proposed through the area. Fully paved upon commissioning, the highway substantially predated the 1971 completion of I-16 in the area despite its ultimate purpose of connecting with I-16.

Western Terminus: GA 96 southwest of Jeffersonville

No end signage is mounted on the western end, but a GA 96 directional sign is. The first photo is by S.E.B. taken January 15, 2005. Other photos include directional assembly, first reassurance shield and junction assembly. The first and third sign were both contractor installations installed when the intersection with GA 96 was recently realigned as part of a GA 96 improvement in the area. Photos taken March 8, 2005.
Eastern Terminus: U.S. 80/GA 19 between Danville and Jeffersonville
Photos include ends assembly, directional assembly, first reassurance shield and junction assembly. Both the directional and junction assembly were taken looking westbound on U.S. 80. The winter light affected the quality of the last three pics. Photos taken March 8, 2005.
