Removal of Interstate and State Route Concurrencies

After the removal of concurrent U.S. and State routes is complete, the next phase of merging route numbers involves removing the confusing state/interstate duplicates, which will effectively make all interstates equal to the state route numbers, thus I-75 equals GA 75.

Much like the confusing intersection of GA 27 and U.S. 27 in Lumpkin, the situation here often results in similar problems. The most notable example is the confusion between GA 85 and I-85, both which are between 5 and 30 miles apart along the length of the state 85. This list is the last category and uses the numbers made available from the other renumbering to make the transition possible. When this change is complete, all 400 series designations applied as supplemental designations to interstates will effectively be decommissioned. After this table is a table addressing banner routes tied to the affected state routes.

* These routes listed here are conceptual interstates that will be presented and discussed in other parts of this site

** Though duplication of state and interstate route numbers is typically forbidden if this part of the renumbering plan is enacted, any route that exists as a state extension of an interstate with the same number is acceptable. Note that in the state route part of the plan, GA 575 is recommended to replace GA 515 as the extension northward of I-575.

*** Regardless of the fact there are no current plans for an I-485, this interstate has been proposed and cancelled twice. Plans may still arise one day to create another proposal for an interstate with this route designation.
