BRIDGES OF WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA

Western North Carolina typically conjures images of breathtaking mountain scenery, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore House, the Cherokee reservation, the Great Smoky Mountains and winding mountain roads. While much of this part of the state has succumbed to road modernization along the extensive system of secondary state roads, a few historic bridges remain in this part of the state. While they are now rare, these bridges are not only substantial historically but are greatly enhanced by the scenery surrounding them. While none remain in the westernmost counties, these bridges are found scattered around mostly in the area west of Asheville, though others may be found all throughout the region.

Due to the time and difficulties involved in a higher quality page, I have created this as a no-frills page for now so as to quickly showcase these bridges and beautiful scenery since I currently have no major website connected to this region.
